Umbrella with two motifs by the important Viennese Art Nouveau painter Gustav Klimt (1862-1918). "The Tree of Life" and "The Expectation" are part of Klimt's design for the Stoclet Frieze. The Stoclet Frieze is a wall frieze by Gustav Klimt mounted in 1911 in the dining room of the Palais Stoclet in Brussels. Klimt's eight-part design for the frieze in its original size is preserved in the Vienna Museum of Applied Arts.
